Over this past weekend, I had two of the strangest dreams that I can remember. I guess they’re not really strange (at least to me) as they are extremely detailed. In these dreams I found myself typing out blog posts on this site. They were very surreal in that I remember key details about them (and if I would have wrote it down when I woke up one night, I had practically a whole post “typed” out in my sleep ~ by the time morning came, I had forgotten the details).

With that said, here were the two “blog post” titles/subjects that “I was writing” in my sleep. Do they have some sort of secret meaning? Who knows?

Blog post title from dream on Saturday night 09/02/2006:
“Get this motherf’in house off our motherf’in hands”
Of course a play on the best movie I’ve seen in the last couple of weeks. I guess this post I can kind of see in that Liz and I are constantly thinking about selling our house and moving to a more “in-town” location. Don’t know what provoked it that night, but I think the premise behind this blog posting was that we have had the house on the market for quite a while and were starting to get a little fed up. Is this a sign of the declining housing trend? Who knows? Let’s hope I don’t have to resort to a blog post like this come late winter/early spring next year when (or is it if) we decide to start looking again…

Blog post title from dream on Sunday night, 09/03/2006:
“Here’s hoping this cool breeze keeps sweeping over me”
I was sleeping right underneath an open window and for the most part was hot the whole night. I’m thinking I caught a breeze while sleeping and then decided to subconsiously blog about it. Yeah, I now. Lame. This is the one that I had a whole post wrote out that I swore to myself I was going to remember in the morning. And you say that you’re never lucky? :)

All in all, very strange. Moral of this post? Even when I’m not expressing my thoughts here on marusin.com, I’m dreaming about it. Lucky you. :)

I’ve been noticing more and more that people are excluding search boxes/searching from their weblogs? Yes, I’m too lazy to seek them out right now and link to them but trust me, they’re out there. Keep your eyes open. They are missing from lots of sites. This seems strange to me since every major piece of blogging software has searching available out of the box.

I love tagging, but that doesn’t always help me when I’m looking for a specific term. If you a run a blog/website and you don’t have a search mechanism in place, I’m interested as to why not? Please leave a comment and let me know.

As you may or may not know (I’m guessing you know by now if your kind of nerd-ish), Robert Scoble is leaving Microsoft. There’s tons of buzz going around the blog world. With that said, Mr. Scoble just published a post that, frankly, got my heart pumping and honestly brought a tear to my eye…

Scoble basically does a brain-dump in this posting, but there were several things that just hit home with me.

“I forget who said it, but I learned long ago that an industry will only be strong if it has great competitors in it. Imagine a mall that only had one shoe store. How boring. The most vibrant mall has dozens of shoe stores. How can they all survive? Easy, their competition draws more people into the mall.”

and then this…

“Oh, and then there’s the little thing about Google vs. Microsoft. When two big companies are struggling to build audiences to stick advertising next to it creates new opportunities. Startups can zig and zag where big companies just can’t take advantage of new opportunities the way someone like Cali can. Remember, she didn’t exist six months ago. SIX MONTHS AGO!!! And who the hell is Amanda? She didn’t exist 1.5 years ago. Now she’s been on CSI and big huge media companies are vying to get near her brand. What a world!”

If that wasn’t all of it I venture further down my feeds (using just the space bar ~ more info to come on this very soon!) and I am reading Josh’s open letter to Intel (his employer) to give him the opportunity to create a personable face to the company (similar to what Scoble did at Microsoft between his blog and Channel 9).

As I type this, my eyes are watering up. For as long as I can remember, this happens when something hits me in a passionate way. I get these “warm and fuzzies” when I read/know about people going out there and following their passion. My wife, Liz, and I were talking about this type of stuff earlier today. I guess it’s just all hitting home.

The timing couldn’t be any more perfect for Gnomedex coming up in a couple of weeks. Every time I go, I walk away with a million ideas running through my head and an unbelievable amount of motivation. Reading posts like the ones I read today get me even more pumped about opportunities that are out there and being able to collaborate with so many forward-thinking people.

Damn, I’m fired up.
