I pre-ordered Mario Kart Wii a few weeks ago (I was obligated having owned and every Mario Kart ever, other than the SNES which unfortunately was the only mainstream Nintendo console I never owned). With that said, I’ve been playing it pretty much all day (while I should be doing other things) and have to admit that I’m not good compared to the majority of you all.

Don’t worry, though. I’ll keep practicing and pretty soon I’ll get about the base 5,000 experience points (or whatever they call that rating)… :)

If you haven’t picked it up yet, I cannot recommend Mario Kart Wii enough. After owning it for about 8 hours, it’s easily in my top 3 Wii games so far.

Like a ton of people, I’m TOTALLY hooked on Guitar Hero 3 on the Wii (as are some of my friends).Â I picked it up last week and have changed the batteries in my WiiMote more times over the last 7 days than I have in the last 7 months!

Between tomorrow’s pending Apple announcements (come on Airport Express w/Video and/or any form of video integration with a TV ~ I’ve been waiting for “this” Airport for years!) and Thursday’s Nintendo announcements (come on Wii in October for $150!), it’s a good week to be such a nerd that I feel like it’s Christmas Eve and I’m 10 years old again.

I somehow (mysteriously) found some brand new Nintendo DS Lites at a local store. Technically, they’re not supposed to be selling these yet since June 11 is the official release date.

With that said, I stumbled up to the counter and picked ~~one~~ two up. One’s for a “friend”. :)

Being the true nerd that I am, I had to document the “unboxing” experience and contribute to Josh’s new unboxing.com site.

I just finished watching the Nintendo Press Conference from e3 (well, I actually listened to it and flipped over to the window every once and a while when things sounded interesting). As you know around here, my allegiance to Nintendo has really heightened since I picked up a DS at the beginning of the year. I have been interested and intrigued by the Wii, but was still a bit apprehensive until some actual news was announced…

There is definitely a vacation day or two coming my way this fall (or I guess I should say, sometime in Q4 2006) when the Wii is released. Between the games that have been announced (Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Red Steel, Zelda: Twilight Princess, etc.) and then watching the demo at the end where the Nintendo crew played the tennis game (part of “Wii Sports”), I will be pre-ordering, lining up overnight or whatever it takes to get one.

Update: Here’s the video of all of the Nintendo execs playing tennis. You can’t tell me that you’re not intrigued after watching this… :)
