(and “no”, I didn’t write this post as an excuse to make up for not doing much around here lately! will be updating more shortly…)  

If you know me or read this site, you know that I run another site at turo.us which allows people to create smaller urls from large ones.

As it turns out, someone (aka “The ACTUAL Spammer”) had created a handful of urls using turo.us and posted them on some Craigslist sites.  As soon as I discovered that this had happened, I had put a flag on the suspecting URLs preventing them from being redirected to the spam sites.

For whatever reason, this person is convinced that I’m the spammer and won’t let it go…  Please, let me assure you that I’m not.

So I’ve decided (once again, I’ve done this before and reverted) that I might want to use a “blogging client” to create some posts. This way, I can write up thoughts “offline” (as we say in the biz) and post when I’m ready. So often I think of something when I’m on the train, etc. about a post and then forget about it or lose the “killer” quote that I though up by the time I’m “online”.
The big question for me right now is to go with Ecto or MarsEdit… I’m using Ecto as we speak and so far it seems to be pretty slick. My next step is to download MarsEdit and do the compare/contrast.

Does anyone have any strong opinions on using Ecto vs. MarsEdit for a local blogging client? Any info would be great!

With that said, here were the two “blog post” titles/subjects that “I was writing” in my sleep. Do they have some sort of secret meaning? Who knows?

Blog post title from dream on Saturday night 09/02/2006:
“Get this motherf’in house off our motherf’in hands”
Of course a play on the best movie I’ve seen in the last couple of weeks. I guess this post I can kind of see in that Liz and I are constantly thinking about selling our house and moving to a more “in-town” location. Don’t know what provoked it that night, but I think the premise behind this blog posting was that we have had the house on the market for quite a while and were starting to get a little fed up. Is this a sign of the declining housing trend? Who knows? Let’s hope I don’t have to resort to a blog post like this come late winter/early spring next year when (or is it if) we decide to start looking again…

Blog post title from dream on Sunday night, 09/03/2006:
“Here’s hoping this cool breeze keeps sweeping over me”
I was sleeping right underneath an open window and for the most part was hot the whole night. I’m thinking I caught a breeze while sleeping and then decided to subconsiously blog about it. Yeah, I now. Lame. This is the one that I had a whole post wrote out that I swore to myself I was going to remember in the morning. And you say that you’re never lucky? :)

All in all, very strange. Moral of this post? Even when I’m not expressing my thoughts here on marusin.com, I’m dreaming about it. Lucky you. :)

Thanks for all of the letters, postcards, notes, voicemails, telegrams, messages via courier pigeon, etc. wondering where I’ve been. Sorry to put my “fans” (that’s a joke by the way) on the backburner. :)

Why, you ask?

It’s that time of year again for Gnomedex and I’ll be there in full blogging-form. What does that mean to you, the marusin.com reader who doesn’t know what Gnomedex is (or isn’t on the “nerdy-side” of the spectrum)? Expect things to get a little geeky around here this week/next. If you can’t take that, give me a head’s up and I’ll let you know (personally) when things “tone down” a bit.. :)

I’m really looking forward to Gnomedex this year. It will be awesome to see the regular crew again and meet so many other like-minded people.
