Today, I was very excited to see that MarsEdit has updated their software to version 2.1 and it’s an awesome upgrade. The software now supports tagging natively within WordPress (and MovableType if that’s your thing), has cool search functionality and just overall performance enhancements (not to be confused with Major League Baseball players and their performance enhancers). You can read all about this update on the MarsEdit site.

MarsEdit officially gets the marusin.com “seal of approval” for cool software that’s worth your time and money.

A couple of days ago, MarsEdit updated their software to V2 and I’ve been hearing lots of praise for the newest version.

The big question is “Why am I typing this blog post?”

The answer? To test out MarsEdit 2.

So far, uhhh… I don’t know yet.

Oh, and one last thing. I don’t want to hear it from you all saying stuff like “Why bother looking at Blogging Clients when you don’t even post anymore?”…

Maybe this would encourage some more activity around here! (wishful thinking, perhaps?) :)

Nobody’s perfect and I’m just as guilty as everyone else who is on the internet and has a blog…

What piece of technical functionality that I would love to see implemented on the web/in RSS? It would be awesome to read a story (for example, “Fake Steve Jobs” being outed) and immediately thinking to myself, “I don’t want to read everyone’s take on this story that will be popping up for the next few days” (I’m sure other people would be doing the same thing for things like Chocolate Rain as well!)… :)

I’m thinking that the same type of algorithm that allows sites like Techmeme to find/group like-minded stories could work the opposite way and filter (or “mute”, as we call it in the biz) these type of stories.

Does something like this exist? Is something like this possible? If the answer to the first question is “no” and the second question is “yes”, does anyone wanna help me build it? ;)

Now, everyone has the chance to get into “the know” since Site Stats has officially gone live and is available to the masses.

I have played around with several site statistics packages in the past and by far FeedBurner’s new offering has been the easiest to both implement and actually get some real information out of.

If you currently use FeedBurner to manage the RSS feeds of your site, get going and activate the new StandardStats feature. The service is awesome and so is the price (that would be, uh, free!)…

So I’ve decided (once again, I’ve done this before and reverted) that I might want to use a “blogging client” to create some posts. This way, I can write up thoughts “offline” (as we say in the biz) and post when I’m ready. So often I think of something when I’m on the train, etc. about a post and then forget about it or lose the “killer” quote that I though up by the time I’m “online”.
The big question for me right now is to go with Ecto or MarsEdit… I’m using Ecto as we speak and so far it seems to be pretty slick. My next step is to download MarsEdit and do the compare/contrast.

Does anyone have any strong opinions on using Ecto vs. MarsEdit for a local blogging client? Any info would be great!

The post is about Nielsen banning blogging at a conference of their’s this past week. Steve has a good point about conferences like Gnomedex that have started becoming very popular due to their exposure from everyone blogging.

Hell, that’s one of the best parts about going to events like Gnomedex: being able to join in the conversation (well, that and the possibility that a crowd shot that includes you nerding out in the second row shows up on a farily popular website)… :)
