Happy 2009!

Happy New Years, my faithful marusin.com readers…

2008 was one of those years that feels like I closed my eyes about 366 days ago and the next thing I knew, we were moving into 2009.  I decided to revisit some past posts from 2006 and 2007 where I re-capped the years that were and updated (with a few additions) for 2008.

Me at a glance for 2008
- States visited in 2008: Illinois (by default, as always), Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin (for work ~ no vacation this year), Minnesota (for work), Michigan (a whole lot for both work and a relaxing week in Holland/Western Michigan) and Florida (trip to Convergence Conference for work and vacation with my parents)
- Number of cars that I either purchased or assisted in purchasing this year: 1 (fulfilled a prophecy declared last year ~ that is all) :)
- New hobby for 2008: Homebrewing (first batch turned out awesome and brewing some more tomorrow!)
- Favorite Volunteer Activity for 2008 (sounds impressive, huh?): Working the All Hallow’s Eve event at Naper Settlement again
- Place on the Internet where I spent the majority of my time: Facebook and Twitter (same as last year)
- Favorite Album of 2008: Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes and For Emma, For Ever Ago by Bon Iver (both only $5 on Amazon.com right now!)
- My favorite gadget(s): Absolutely has to be my iPhone (still), Amazon Kindle (which was purchased -> returned – repurchased) and Flip Mino HD.  I guess my Wii / Nintendo DS still should be listed while we’re at it.  All of these (other than the Wii) are practically always with me.
- My favorite video game: Tie between Professor Layton and the Curious Village and Korg DS-10 (both for the Nintendo DS)
- My favorite book: I absolutely LOVED Little Brother by Cory Doctorow (and not just because he did a book signing that I could have walked to from my house this past year!)
- My favorite movie of 2008: Wow, that’s a toughie… Let me think about that one for a bit!

The Year That Is To Come…
2008 was a pretty decent year for me.  It had it’s ups and downs but all in all, wasn’t so bad.  Nothing was earth-shattering, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.  If I have one goal for 2009, it’s to make sure I have fun with family and enjoy it to it’s fullest.  Of course I have a couple things that I always tease are “up my sleeve”.  We’ll see if these things happen (or I share them with you!) ;)

Happy New Year, everyone! :)
