Right Brain vs. Left Brain

Is spinning clockwise or counter-clockwise?While surfing around the other day I stumbled upon an article from the Australian Herald Sun that uses the animated image (shown within this post) to determine if you are more of a “right brain” or “left brain” kind of person.

If the dancer appears to be spinning clockwise, you are considered to be “right brain-ed”. If you see it spinning counter-clockwise, you’re totally “left-brained”.

I don’t know, but for the life of me the dancer ONLY spins clock-wise (and I have never really considered myself right-brain). Some people I’ve shown this to are able to see her spin in both directions. I don’t even know how you would classify them! :)

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
- uses logic
- detail oriented
- facts rule
- words and language
- present and past
- math and science
- can comprehend
- knowing
- acknowledges
- order/pattern perception
- knows object name
- reality based
- forms strategies
- practical
- safe

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
- uses feeling
- “big picture” oriented
- imagination rules
- symbols and images
- present and future
- philosophy & religion
- can “get it” (i.e. meaning)
- believes
- appreciates
- spatial perception
- knows object function
- fantasy based
- presents possibilities
- impetuous
- risk taking

Which direction is she spinning for you, my loyal marusin.com reader?

Counter-clockwise here, my friend!! I can’t possibly see how this can work both ways!!

  2. Greg Lewis Says:

Agree with Honold…couldn’t start to imagine how you could perceive clockwise on this one.

  3. Brian Beatty Says:

If I look at it with peripheral vision. it almost went counter-clock wise.
    But I’m a center left-brain thinker.

  4. Sarah Says:

I can see it both ways.
    First it was clockwise.
Then as I read the descriptions she began to spin counter-clockwise. All 4 of us here can see her spin both ways.

  5. Matt Says:

I can switch the direction my mind perceives she’s turning at will. What’s the deal with that?
