Welcome to our family, Poppy!

Maggie and PoppyIf you’re not following me on Twitter (and to be honest, that’s really where I’m most active these days due to laziness/ease of use), Poppy Ann Marusin was born last Thursday (10/11/2007).

So far she has been great and is quite easy going (following the typical Baby Marusin trend of eating, sleeping and pooping). Her big sister, Maggie, absolutely loves her and is ready for her to start chasing her around the house (she doesn’t still get the fact that we have a good year or so until we’re walking).

And for those wondering about the name, Poppy, I will direct you to my wife, Liz. She came up with/discovered the name and I loved it. From what we’ve researched, Poppy is a very popular name in England (not that we’re English, but). Yes, we won’t have much luck finding the license plate with her name on it in a “rot shop” in Wisconsin Dells, but we’re willing to deal with that if/when the time ever comes.

Both Liz and I strongly believe that a name indirectly shapes/sculpts a personality and thought that a “Poppy” would be the perfect accompaniment to “Maggie”. I’ll admit that I’ve already had a dream that the two of them grow up to open this amazingly successful pastry shop where I hang out and pull espressos all day. Let’s keep our fingers crossed! :)

Well, when they have kids that’s one less name for them to call you… I guess you’ll have to go with Pap-pap

Awesome! Congrats to you and your family.

Should make for some fun times during the potty training years, “Poppy has to go poo-poo on the potty” (Say that fast 10 times!).

[...] 2007 was quite a year for us as everything that we were planning for the year came through. I’m still amazed to be honest! - Liz’s business has taken off and she has done several plans for kitchens, baths, remodels, etc (including our own which leads into…) - We were sold our old house in record time and moved in-town (as we call it in the biz Ville) back in July - We had a new addition to our family with Poppy being born in October [...]
