Muting the Echo Chamber
Nobody’s perfect and I’m just as guilty as everyone else who is on the internet and has a blog…
What piece of technical functionality that I would love to see implemented on the web/in RSS? It would be awesome to read a story (for example, “Fake Steve Jobs” being outed) and immediately thinking to myself, “I don’t want to read everyone’s take on this story that will be popping up for the next few days” (I’m sure other people would be doing the same thing for things like Chocolate Rain as well!)… :)
I’m thinking that the same type of algorithm that allows sites like Techmeme to find/group like-minded stories could work the opposite way and filter (or “mute”, as we call it in the biz) these type of stories.
Does something like this exist? Is something like this possible? If the answer to the first question is “no” and the second question is “yes”, does anyone wanna help me build it? ;)

So what’s your take on the Fake Steve Jobs being outed?

I think it’s coincidental that Daniel Lyons wrote this column about anonymous blogging about two years ago…
