Sound Opinions Moving to Chicago Public Radio

I just discovered that Sound Opinions will be moving on December 3, 2005 from WXRT to WBEZ (Chicago’s NPR Affiliate). Sounds like this will be a great move for Greg and Dero…

From the email:

To our “Sound Opinions” Listeners:

After 354 shows on WXRT (93.1-FM), “Sound Opinions” will be moving on Dec. 3 to a new home on Chicago Public Radio (91.5-FM). Basically, we got an offer that is too good to refuse: a bigger budget for production, staff and our Web site, an amazing facility for conducting interviews and recording live music performances, and the opportunity to reach a national audience with streaming audio, podcasting and syndication. We are excited about the prospects of taking “the world’s only rock ‘n’ roll talk show” to a whole new level and a new and larger audience, and we hope you will continue to join us every week.

Details about our new Saturday time slot and repeat airings, among other things, will be announced soon, but in the mean time, we would like to thank everyone at WXRT for their support and encouragement over the last seven years; the “Sound Opinions” team – Matt Spiegel, Shawn Campbell, Jason Saldanha, Robin Linn, and all of our interns past and present – for all of their hard work; and most of all you, the listener.

Sincerely,

Jim and Greg

I love some of the keywords in this notice: “recording live music performances” and “podcasting”…

(jaw dropping to the floor)… wow. That’s great news.

Jim DeRogatis is one of the worst critics I have ever read. Maybe they moved to make more room for his big fat ass and big head. It is good he is on a public station where no one will listen to the show.

Dude. Clearly the angry poster above has no idea what a great show Sound Opinions is., or how much better Dero is live than in print (though, he’s pretty decent in print, too. He’s got his own style, at least, more than most reviewrs can say).

I’ve been listening to it on and off since all the way back when it was on Q101 (with the Reader’s Bill Wyman instead of Kot), and that’s PHENOMENAL news for them.

  4. Cris Petersen Says:

Great news! Hopefully XRT will get another (better) show to replace Sound Opinions. There are many who dislike “DERO”….Dude.

  5. Charles English Says:

    DERO is such an assclown.
