Your First Music Purchase

Monday, July 25th, 2005

Back in early July, Jambands.com posted an article entitled “Used with Derek Trucks”, which opened up with the following:

Much can be learned about someone from the first album that they bought with their own money.

For Stanton Moore, the eccentric and outrageously talented drummer for New Orleans funk gurus Galactic, it was the Grease/ movie soundtrack. [...]

Dave Winer’s OPML Editor Available Today?

Monday, July 25th, 2005

Around 10:00 AM EST today, Dave Winer was going to make his OPML Editor available to the public. From his latest note he’s running late and hopes to have it available by 10:00 AM PST.

I for one have been dying to look at it ever since Dave promised to send me a copy (it’s a [...]

Marusin.com has been Hi-Jacked

Monday, July 25th, 2005

At least that’s how I see it… Mike was kind enough to offer me a guest posting gig over here with the instructions that I would have an obligation of posting at least once while he’s away. So over the next couple of days I’ll be ignoring my web log and spending sometime here.

A quick [...]

del.icio.us powered ala carte

Friday, July 22nd, 2005

News flash: (beep, beep, beep, beep) marusin.com is no longer a “link blog”! The “Ala Carte” section has been resurrected! My del.icio.us feed is now being pulled into this here site automagically via the wonders of RSS.

If you subscribe to the current Ala Carte RSS feed, it is no longer being [...]

Local Podcasting Stars

Friday, July 22nd, 2005

Congratulations are in order to Naperville podcasting superstars, Kris (”with a K”) and Betsy Smith of Croncast.

They were mentioned in the New York Times today as one of the best podcasts to listen to and definitely deserve the nod.

My commutes have really sucked this week as they are currently taking a two-week vacation [...]

Scootin’

Thursday, July 21st, 2005

Well, if you haven’t noticed on my Flickr site, I have a new toy.

I’ve always been partial to “classic” scooters and have a fascination with the design and (lack of modern) technology.

I had a Vespa PX 150 that I purchased a couple of years ago with the intention of fixing up and zipping [...]

I’m so digging the Pernice Brothers

Wednesday, July 20th, 2005
  • It’s raining (first time in how long?)
  • I’m plugging away at building wireframes for a project I’m architecting
  • I’m so re-enjoying the Pernice Brothers album, “Yours, Mine & Ours”.

I can’t think of a better thing to listen to right now.

I Know, I Know… Kill The Lame Link Posts

Wednesday, July 20th, 2005

I totally know/agree that things need to change around here. There are way to many automated link posts and what once was my quick and easy fail-over for posting new content has become abandoned and full of dust and cobwebs.

I have to admit that “bookmarking” links through del.icio.us is way to convenient, but honestly [...]

Never Enough Creedence

Tuesday, July 19th, 2005

It seems that when I’m really busy, I turn to two different bands for an inspirational soundtrack. While both of these bands seem to push me through these times, I just can’t figure out what makes Creedence Clearwater Revival and Radiohead so comforting.
