del.icio.us experiments

You might have noticed a couple posts down that I’ve began experimenting with automating my daily del.icio.us links into this site.

To some of you, you might be asking, “What the hell is del.icio.us?”. To my geeky readers, you might be saying to yourself, “Yeah whatever”.

If you’re not familiar with del.icio.us, Wikipedia explains it best:

“del.icio.us is a social bookmarks manager. It allows you to easily add sites you like to your personal collection of links, to categorize those sites with keywords, and to share your collection not only between your own browsers and machines, but also with others.”

I’ve had a del.icio.us account for quite a while but only recently have been using it more and more. Originally I started the Ala Carte area of this site as my own little online bookmark utility, but I’ve been finding that del.icio.us offers a lot of the functionality that I’ve wanted and haven’t been able to implement. I’m not putting Ala Carte to rest, though (yet).

What I may do is merge my del.icio.us bookmarks and Ala Carte into one big list. We shall see though. I haven’t had a whole lot of time lately to play with fun stuff like this so six months from now when nothing has changed you’ll know.

(where’s that Podcast of mine by the way?) :)

To anyone who currently uses this daily posting feature that is built into del.icio.us, do you know how to get the automated category selection to work? I’ve read the (limited) documentation and have the correct parameter but haven’t been able to get it to work? (I guess it looks like I’m not the only one)
