RSS Help Needed
Warning:
This post talks about RSS Readers and XML. If you are not familar with these type of things, you might want to skip this post, it’ll make your eyes cross and your head hurt.
Ok, now that that you’re still here, I need some help…
My RSS Reader of choice (for Windows), Wildgrape NewsDesk, decided to completely puke today. I have no idea why, but it doesn’t work anymore. I upgraded my .NET Framework to 1.1, uninstalled NewsDesk and tried re-installing and I get nasty nasty errors. So I’m stuck and need to keep tabs on all my RSS feeds I read daily.
The problem is that every RSS Reader for Windows is complete bloatware. They all suck in comparison with the features and usability of NetNewsWire, but for now I’m separated from my beloved operating system during the time when the sun is shining (well when it’s “supposed to be shining”) and I’m at work.
Any Windows users have any recommendations? I don’t use Outlook, so Newsgator is out. I installed Newzcrawler and it’s crap. I’ve been experimenting with FeedDemon but am not too impressed yet. I’ve recommended Wildgrape NewsDesk in the past to people and have been a big fan, but am kind of S.O.L. right now with that software until I hear back from support.

I use FeedReader [ http://www.feedreader.com/ ] at work. It’s quirky, but generally works. Don’t expect anything to be fixed soon, though. The developer is looking to hand the project off to someone else.

I am using feedreader as well (actually Matt suggested it to me). I haven’t tried others so I don’t have anything else to compare it to.
