A Call to All Bloggers!
people of the world who maintain weblogs, you don’t understand how a little thing like ‘pinging’ weblogs.com or blo.gs makes my life as a “weblog reader” that much easier…
sorry if this posting is above the heads of some people reading… let me explain:
‘pinging’ a site means that when someone posts a new item to their blog that they send a little ‘message’ to a site such as weblogs.com saying “hey, joeblow.com was just updated” (a little more technical in reality, but you get the idea). This then allows me to easily look at a list of sites that i normally read (which references weblogs.com) and think to myself “Hmm, i should check out joeblow.com, they just updated their site”…
Take a look at the left navigation over there (<–) and you may see a little “*” next to some of the sites I read regularly. These people are the ones I love who ‘ping’. Those who don’t have “*”s next to their links are either people who haven’t updated their site recently or those who are ‘evil’ and I’m directing this posting at! :)
